One of the best, and certainly the easiest, way to see the Catskill Mountains up close is to walk, bike or skate the road atop the Ashokan reservoir dam. With the exception of Reservoir Road, which crosses the reservoir in the middle, the road has been closed to automobile traffic since 2001.
